Or not. We all have our days.
The weekend just gone my parents came over and helped me sort out my pantry. It was kinda a mess after months and months of not really doing anything in the kitchen and things being put in all sorts of strange places. It got to the point where I couldn't find my cookie cutters, and with the tennis club baking starting soon I really need my kitchen in order. Mum hates organising her own pantry - but was a star at mine. Parents are great are they not?
Ooh there's me in the reflection.... |
So to go with the newly organised pantry I cleaned out the kitchen. This was also spurred by a potentially horrific accident involving a wobbly unbalanced child on a stool in the kitchen, a few bottles of liquor on a tray including a full bottle of Cointreau which smashed midair, sending 100 million tiny shards of glass and sticky booze ALL OVER THE KITCHEN. What a MESS and what a near disaster for Katie who luckily only received a few surface scratches to her legs.
So here's my tidy kitchen. I would love a new kitchen, as this one is a zillion years old with those kind of cupboards you can put your back out getting things out of. The cupboards are either too high or too low and the benches are uneven and falling apart slowly. But I love this space. It's the place I feel most relaxed. I've got a view of the beach, I can watch my children play outside, I can keep an eye on them in the lounge. It's the centre of our house where friends come and hang for a cuppa or something a bit stronger (sorry no Cointreau left though). One day when we have our dream house I'm gonna have a huge kitchen that I never have to leave.

what a gorgeous view you have from your place!
I think my fave room is my kitchen too
Popped on from Kiwi Mummy Blogs - I need to clean my pantry too and wanted some inspiration. Love your kitchen - it has a real warmth and quirkiness, and the view is to die for.
That view is amazing.
I dont think I have a fav room in my current house, but the one Im typing this in is pretty good because its "my room" - that dont stop the kids coming in and breaking sewing machines and squeezing tubes of paint out though...:(
I cleaned out my pantry this week too. Stink about such a messy bottle clean up! But it feels great to have your favourite place all organized for the year ahead.
Don't you love helpful parents!
I think my favourite room is the lounge...after the kids so to sleep of course. Nice view and comfortable couch!

Our pantry had a big going over last week ..in preparation for our move back to NZ in 11 days! eek!
We are using our imaginations to make meals and use up what we have..its ..um..interesting..lol..
I love your view...so pretty and calming, yup the kitchen is my fav room too...we have just moved to a ig old farm house - so its not flash, but for the first time everything has a place and doesn't have to stack on top of each other...sigh of relief and pure pleasure!
My favourite appliance is the same as yours! My pantry is in big need of a clean out too but it can wait. Hope you sleep well and have no more bad dreams.
