Madelines Creations

Last week when Madeline was off sick she spent the day at home with me. She wanted to do some baking so I got her to make some cupcakes from scratch all by herself. She did a terrific job of reading the recipe, working out what she needed and doing it all herself. I love when kids find the enjoyment and independence of baking and I hope this is the first of many forays into the kitchen for her. Its great for confidence!

She also spent quite some time well into the evening decorating them. It was amazing, she hardly talked all afternoon and anyone who knows Madeline knows she could talk the ear off a talking chipmunk. This kid doesn't stop talking unless she's eating or sleeping (even then it doesn't reeeeally stop). So...this is a great way to keep her busy. Plus she did such a great job, look at the choice of colours too! Might have to start commissioning her to get cracking on some cupcakes for Johnny's fast approaching 5th birthday.

CUTE! If that's what she get to do on sick days, I see many more of them ahead!

Don't tell your mum, she'd be horrified and think I'm going soft! It was more like a mental health day anyway, sick was really pushing it as it was more post cross-country exhaustion. In fact she said to me at the end of the day, can we do this once a year? So obviously she's not cottoned onto wagging yet. Haha!

WOW! What a great job she did!!!
Miss fab is having a baking birthday - I should totally show her Mad's creations to inspire her...
Sculpting with fondant could be loads of fun!

PS mental health days have been in evidence round here too

Yeah Simone its a real easy one to do. Just a few colours, a block of Pettinice fondant from the supermarket and some sprinkles and the girls will LOVE it!

Gorgeous cupcakes and cute girl. Nothing wrong with a few "quiet days" at home now and then - and I'm a teacher !! :)
